In 2021, a new cardio-obstetrics program was created at Platte Valley Medical Center and Saint Joseph Hospital. Working with a multidisciplinary team of board-certified physicians, the program was designed to keep moms and babies safe and cared for before, during, and after pregnancy.

Led by Dr. Christopher Angus and Dr. Kirstin Hesterberg, the program provides preconception counseling and risk management for women with a pre-existing heart condition or other cardiovascular risk factors as well as comprehensive monitoring and diagnostics for women throughout their pregnancy.
